Inspiration
GenoCode is inspired by DancerDNA (Cyberation, published by Notting Hill Publishing, 1999), a program that evolved creatures which danced to music. Its creature language, gene ranges, breeding and morphing, and music-driven dance were the starting point for GenoCode. No DancerDNA files or code are included in this project. The starter creatures and dance styles that were inspired by DancerDNA's are rewritten from scratch in GenoCode, and each one names the original it was inspired by.
GenoCode also grows out of Fantastic Avian Creatures, an earlier project by GenoCode's author.
Its texture generator (the pattern kinds, colour schemes, finishes and mixes) is ported in
packages/render.
